Performing

I spent my childhood learning the correct barre posture and how to count triplets, practicing double pullbacks and remembering that the strength for a kick comes from your core, not your thigh.

I danced, sang, and acted 5-7 days a week until I graduated high school. At that time two things happened: I wanted to explore my passion for writing, and my lifelong Scoliosis was getting worse. Instead of pursue a career as a professional tap dancer, I decided to go to college and major in Creative Writing and Literature. Then I took a few years off before enrolling in a Master's in Library Science program which led to my work in public libraries.

Even after leaving the dance world, my passion for performing never left me. I sought out projects in college, grad school, and in my professional positions that allowed me to pass on my love for the arts to the public.

Some of the content you'll browse through on this page is 20+ years old, but it can fun to look back at these experiences that shaped us as we look to the future. The rest is from my public library days and mostly focuses on early literacy and storytelling.

After my health becomes more predictable, I hope to return to both dance and libraries in a much more hands-on way, so stay tuned for what I'll do next!
